Proposed Bylaw Revisions

The Bylaw Committee has been involved in a project to update and revise the Bylaws. A Report on that project was presented by the Bylaw Committee to the Board on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. The Board accepted the Report of the Bylaw Committee and directed that the Bylaws, while not finalized and still in Working Draft form, be published for members to read and make any comments or suggestions for the Bylaws they feel would be helpful.

Therefore, anyone having comments or suggestions for the Bylaws they feel would be helpful, please contact one of your board members before the end of July which is the absolute deadline. Their contact information can be found on the LAHBPA website.

“An important message from the HBPA”

All of the purses paid to both Thoroughbred and Quarter horses total approximately 100 million dollars per year. Of that total, 94% goes to actual purse payouts. 100% of those monies are and have been audited by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor, through an approved accounting firm, called Laporte, Sehrt, Romig and Hand. This means 94% of our total monies handled by the HBPA is currently audited by the Legislative Auditor. However, the audits don’t stop there. Attached is the breakdown of the auditing trails of the HBPA’s finances.
