Tom Abbott
Former Board member, Tom Abbott, passed away on Wednesday, May 16th. The Board, President, and staff express our condolences to his family and thank him for his years of dedicated service to the LAHBPA and the Horsemen of Louisiana.
Update to HB 833
The Video Poker purse funds were amended out of House Bill 833. Thank you for contacting the members of the House Appropriations committee and asking them to support Louisiana Horsemen. The Video Poker funds that are dedicated to supplement purses for Louisiana Bred horses will remain. Communicating your position to your Representatives is vital to our industry. Through the hard work of our Members, Board, President, and Staff, Louisiana will continue to be one of the top Horse Racing destinations in North America.
ATTENTION LOUISIANA HORSEMEN
House Bill 833 is assigned to be heard in the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday May 1st. This bill will reduce by half the Video Draw Poker Purse Supplement Fund. Please contact members of the Appropriations Committee (listed below) and ask them to support the Horse Racing Industry by maintaining these dedicated Purse Funds. Ask them to please vote NO on House Bill 833.
