Re: 2025 Thoroughbred (TB) early Stabling and Training Schedule at FG

  • Bedding and equipment move in on September 11, 2025 with dormitories available.

  • Horses can begin moving in September 15, 2025.

  • Stall rent begins on September 16, 2025 or upon arrival if after this date.

  • Stall rent is $8 per day per horse.

  • Stall rent ends on October 19, 2025.

  • Training begins on September 19, 2025.

  • Training Schedule for September 19th to October 5th:

    • 6:30AM to 10:30AM

    • Break from 8:30AM to 9AM

    • No Training on Sundays and Mondays

    • Gate work and timed works available on Saturdays.

  • Training Schedule for October 6th to October 19th:

    • 6:30AM to 10:30AM

    • Break from 8:30AM to 9AM

    • No Training on Sundays

    • Gate work and timed works available on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • Regular training schedule begins on October 20th.

  • Paddock available for schooling after renovations are complete.

Please call your Legislators to support HB 540 by Representative Fontenot

House Bill 540 will allow for Locations that already have Video Poker to have additional terminals. Some of the additional revenue generated will be dedicated to Race Horse Purses, Breeder Awards, local parishes, municipalities, and local law enforcement. The Purse Funds and Breeder Awards will be for both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse.

Here is a link that you can put in your address and get your legislators. Simply click on your Representative and call their office. Ask their staff person to let the Representative know you want them to support House Bill 540 for the Horsemen of Louisiana.

CLAIMING CROWN DEADLINE REMINDER

The 2024 Claiming Crown is set for November 16 at Churchill Downs with eight races totaling $1.1 million in purses for all levels of horses on both dirt and turf. The minimum purse is $100,000 with the Claiming Crown Jewel offering a $200,000 purse. The fee is only $200 to make a horse eligible, but the DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 26. Louisiana Bred Stakes at Delta Downs and Fair Grounds

August 22, 2024 

For the 2024-25 Delta Downs’ and Fair Grounds’ thoroughbred race meets, beginning in October 2024 and ending by March 2025, all stakes races restricted to Louisiana bred horses shall have a minimum purse of one hundred thousand dollars (excluding starter races). 

Also, regarding the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association yearling sale to be conducted on September 27, 2024, the following horses/hip numbers have all been Breeder’s Cup nominated:

The Louisiana State Racing Commission has instituted emergency rules for Controlled Therapeutic Medications effective June 8,2024. 

The rules amend the existing Controlled Therapeutic Medication Schedule for Horses – Version 4.1 as published by the Association of Racing Commissioners International, Inc. 

Unless specifically amended by the listed emergency rule, all other existing rules in Version 4.1 are continued to be in effect.
