2021-22 TB Meet Information from Fair Grounds
/As we quickly approach the start of our 150th season at FG, I wanted to pass on the official timelines for the arrival of horsemen allotted stalls for the 2021-2022 TB meet. The past 45 days have been difficult for both our city and the racetrack itself. CDI and our local team have been going at full speed to assure that we will be ready for the successful start of racing on Thanksgiving Day. Please note the following significant dates for arrival and morning training for the upcoming meet:
Trainers along with their staff can begin arriving for set up of their assigned stalls, tack rooms and living quarters on Friday, October 29, 2021. VERY IMPORTANT that you contact Mario Torres or Scott Jones to indicate your scheduled time of arrival at least 48 to 72 hours prior.
Horse arrival can begin on Sunday, October 31, 2021. AGAIN, please contact Mario or Scott so we are prepared on our end. We will be using the ¾ gap security post as an entrance / exit point for the first week of arrival. Further gate openings TBA by November 1st.
Training will begin on Tuesday, November 2 2021. To assure that track lighting is fully functional for the safety of horses & riders, training will be conducted from 6:30AM to 10:00AM with a 8:00AM to 8:30AM break from 11/2 until 11/14. Lighting repairs are currently in process but we want to have a time period that would allow our vendors extended time in case needed therefore the reason for the sunrise start of 6:30AM for the first 2 weeks of training. Starting 11/15, we will revert back to our normal 5:45AM to 10:00AM with a 8:00AM to 8:30AM break.
FYI, we will not conduct training on the first Sunday in November (11/7). Following 11/7, the track will begin a 7 day a week training schedule.
Gate schooling and gate workouts will begin on Friday, November 5th 2021 from 7:00AM to 9:30AM. There will be no gate schooling or gate workouts on all Tuesdays throughout the race meet.
VERY IMPORTANT. CDI / FG submitted an official notification to the HBPA / LSRC of vaccination / mask requirements for all persons entering FG property (Front side & Barn Area) for the upcoming racing season. Until further notice, the City of New Orleans mandates will be strictly enforced. We appreciate everyone’s full cooperation in this matter. FG Management & Security will have a proof of vaccination process that will be indicated on each individuals LSRC badge.
Again, the FG team is looking forward to the 150th racing season. Through these trying times, the theme for the upcoming meet is RESOLVE & RESILENCE. A lot of hard work has gone into getting us to this point and we are proud to welcome the horsemen back for what we expect to be a very successful meet.
